Brullen muffler question

I'm trying to figure out whether or not to buy this muffler with the tips already installed. There are two options, a 6" and 8". Which tip length should I choose?

Also, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to buy the tips from someplace like this for $40-$60 and have them welded on by the muffler shop? The muffler w/o tips is only $146.

Or would the cost of having them installed bring the price back around to $309, which is what pps wants for muffler with tips included.
