Wrapping M42 header?

I bought a roll of black fiberglass header wrap for the M42 header. I'll admit that I bought it for aesthetic purposes.

I put a few coats of 1500F black paint on it to seal it up, and I'm planning on shooting it with a high temp silicon spray to keep water out.

What's the best way to deal with the bung holes? I was just going to make small slits at I wrapped it.

Make a figure 8 around the hole.
