Help! Need new exhaust, something like SuperSprint but not too loud.

I just got a '89 325i, and among other things I need new exhaust. The old one is rusted right out, is loud as hell (everytime I start it I set off my neighbors' car alarm) and looks like it's about to fall off.

I really like the sound (from what I have heard on youtube) of the SuperSprint, but I can't spend $600 on exhaust now. I need to do something now or I'm affraid of getting pulled over for it being too insanely loud.

Also, I'm probably moving to California in a few months, so I need something that will be legal there. I want it louder than stock but not too loud. It's my only car and my daily driver. I don't want anything ricer sounding. I think the magnaflow is too bassy and kind of ricer (although I haven't ruled it out). I want it to sound European, if that means anything. THANKS!

I ended up finding a used supersprint on Craigslist for $150 so I'm going to try that.

Good job, I bought my remus for $600. I bought my ss 4 inch exhaust for my diesel pickup and it was only $375. The price for these exhausts are stupid.

Yeah I will post. I patched a couple small rust holes with some muffler patch kit and sprayed the whole thing flat black high temperature paint. At least should last for a while especially considering I live in FL (no winter salt on roads).

Use BBQ paint if it isn't on yet

I actually heard that was a good, and cheap idea, but I just used header paint cos they had it at the store when I was buying other stuff.
