Can`t go wrong with a remus catback. I have one, and love it, although it`s pretty quiet so I would definately recommend taking out your cat. I haven`t mine yet, but I think it will be the perfect sound once i do. Then maybe some headers...

just cut your muffler off with a sawzaw and youll be happy. with a resonator, it wont be to loud until your in it real hard.

Not sure on an M20, but I was very pleased with the dynomax super turbo muffler I put on my 318is. magnaflow cat --> resonator --> dynomax muffler Sounds great, not too loud but not stock quiet. The M42 is a tricky one to not make sound like a buzzy bumblebee fart can. I'd think that muffler would do even better on an M20 car too. Any reason for killing the cat? I didn't notice a performance loss from when I put the magnaflow cat on (after having no cat before)

imo, m42 exhaust sounds the best with just a cat and resonator.

Will that's way too loud! I have a Dynomax Superturbo with stock cat and a 2.5"x14" (IIRC) resonator and it sounds nice but it's too loud for my taste. I prefer hearing the intake noise more than exhaust from outside the car.

I've got stock manifolds->y-single 2.25'' tubing->after market cat->resonator-> magnaflow 14815 muffler. Sounds good when you open it up but it is loud as hell and drones like a mofo. Too loud imo and I'm 24 not 40...
