Turbo exhaust size

I picked up an exhaust flange, and sadly its a 2.5 inch. they sent me the wrong one.

Would it be detrimental If I just ran a 2.5 straight to 3" pipe adapter Right after the Downpipe flange?

It's kindof difficult to find 3" flanges, as well as 3" 5 bolt flange gaskets too.
