Hey,is it safe to delete heatshield over the rear muffler?

    Hey,is it safe to delete heatshield over the rear muffler?

    I couldnt find the specific part in RealOem but anyway its the heatshield directly above the rear muffler! Its center screw is busted and its rattling like a mf! Can I safely delete this? I hate the noise! :sad:

        mine has rusted through to the point tht nothing is left...never noticed a difference

          took mine off a year or two ago, hm...forgot until now.

          should be fine, take it off for weight reduction and fuhraze

            The local auto shop just a block away asked for 40€ (50$ or something which is a fing joke),so for a while I m gonna run the E30 without it I guess...:roll:

                    It's not a screw. It's a stud on the chassis and a nut. At least that is the case on my '88.

                        Well,the real culprit for the irritating noise was the fact that the left handbrake cable's clip that was holding it in place somehow broke.This in turn loosened up something in the rear left wheel handbrake mechanism making it rattle inside the rim.I used tier up to keep it in place and see what I ll do if it keeps rattling.
                        The handbrake itself works just fine though...
