OBX Muffler? - stock I pipes

So I bought a complete "i" exhaust to throw on my "e" for $80 last winter, and this week the back of the muffler (ANSA stock replacement) that had a little rust progressed to a lot of rust, which meant the whole back of the muffler with tips fell out, leaving me with a giant megaphone on the end of my pipes. Was hilarious for 2 minutes, then became ridiculous, so that afternoon I hacked off the muffler. Open pipes are more bearable, but still way louder than I want.

I'm having a hard time finding 2" dual inlet/outlet mufflers that would fit the stock "i" dual pipe setup, smallest I can find anywhere (magnaflow, etc) is 2.25", and it looked like the pipes were spaced too far apart on the muffler

Then I came across this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-O...Q5fAccessories

I know, I know, I associate OBX with cheap knockoff shit from back in my Honda days. However, it's a muffler, not like a ton of engineering goes into it, and it's the size (both pipes and overall body) that I'm looking for, and it's cheap.

Anyone had any experience with this particular muffler/OBX mufflers? Surely I can't be the only one on a budget who replaced the muffler on stock "i" pipes and didn't go with ANSA or whatever else

    Thanks

I think I might buy one, how bad can a stainless steel life time warrantee be? I have gone through 5 mufflers in 525k miles.

Never did buy it, in fact I'm digging up on R3v right now to see if there's any good 2-in 2-out mufflers before I go buy anything...Shortly after I made this thread the clutch master cylinder took a shit and the car sat for a couple months (had a lot going on) until I got around to fixing it, so from Thanksgiving-ish till now I've been running open pipes, and I finally got tired of dealing with it/everyone in my apts hating me

It's still an option, I'll update this thread if I end up buying it, in the meantime, if anyone else has bought it (or found another 2-in 2-out solution to replace just the stock "I" muffler) please share with info

UPDATE!!! I did end up buying this muffler (well, maybe a different one, it's been almost a year)

            Here's the updated link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...OC:MOTORS:1123

So overall it appeared to be good quality when I got it. Muffler shop put it on, rigged up a new hanger system. I had them run tailpipes out as far as stock would go, they used my old stock muffler as a reference, the only difference being I had them go straight instead of slanted. $85 bucks labor.

Overall, I'd say it sounds good. Just a little louder than I remember the ANSA being, with a good tone. Sounds good inside the car, enough to where you can easily hear what the engine's doing but without having to crank your stereo up or really raise your voice talking to a passenger. Sounds pretty good at WOT. I'd definitely recommend it given its $60 shipped (shipped to TX at least)

The ebay picture doesn't really show it, but one end is offset, which almost makes it better for an E30 application. Here's a pic of it. Don't have pics of it on the car yet.

Thanks Weeburn! My oem can started to rattle, with a flash light I can see an internal pipe had rusted off inside so I am pulling trigger on this! BTW am going to put a couple of hooker or ansa resonator tips to maybe quite it down further, your thoughts?
