Quiet exhaust to pass a fixit ticket.

So, I got a fix it ticket for my magnaflow muffler. It was a bit too loud for me, didn't wanna pay more money to change it, but now i HAVE to. So, what exhaust can i get thats OE replacement that is quiet. I need to have it pass and get written off, so. I want it to look nice, the OEM looks like shit, needs to have tips on it. cheap is also good considering i already paid for an exhaust. Stupid magnaflow.

    Anyways.

Do i have to go the QUIETEST like ever? Cuz it needs to be passed for the fix it ticket? or can i get something that has some growl. I dont wanna be completely silent.

dont just say "Stock" that doesnt help.

If they dont test your car with a meter you dont have to do shit. Most places dont even have one on hand. Just make them prove your car is louder than 95DB. Thats pretty damn loud by the way.

Just add a glasspack if you want, it will make it change it alot. Then when it blows out you will get some growl.

i talked to the chp place...they dont even have a decibal tester. so does that mean they have to sign it off?

They are able to sign off on their judgement. Just how they issued it. I'd get the cheapest quiet muffler on ebay and have a vband welded on so you can swap it back easy.

If you fought it in court you should win but it would cost you time.

I put a 20" cherry bomb in my exhaust, which is also magnaflow. Made a huge difference-got rid of the rasp and made it a lot quieter. After a track day all of the ugly red was burned off so it just looked like a resonator, and it was pretty cheap to have installed to boot.

So, would a 88 525i exhaust have any trouble fitting on my 88 327i? Pipes are same size, mounts are a little different, think this would be okay? Its a brand new exhaust (BMW brand) for 60$

I have a universal muffler on mine at the moment everthing else is stock. It is actually not a bad sound, it is not heaps loud but has a very deep note to it, and if you rev the car right you get a slight hint of crackle.
