Has anyone cut open a late model 325i muffler to see how it flows and what it looks like?

A quick bump before I turn all Johnny Tran on you guys and stick a Greddy 5" can on it. -
I left my car sit for 7 months in florida near the Bay and when I returned I noticed there was a lot of raspy noise like sand or tin foil rattlling around. I took the muffler off and stood it on end and all the baffles an whatever else was in there feel out. The exterior of the muffler was perfect no rust or corrossion. The material that fell out looked like baffles, there was probably 32 oz of metal that fell out or less. It sounds real throaty with notably less back pressure. 1988 325is m20
