...might as well upgrade (muffler ID?)

I noticed a couple days ago the beginnings of a bad exhaust leak from the rear of my '89 325is. I got under her today to find that the muffler is completely rusted around where the 2 inlets are. With it barely hanging on by the rusty hangers, I decided to take the muffler off so it wouldn't fly off and cause some damage. Now it sounds like crap. Was thinking I might as well upgrade. I liked the muffler that was on there to begin with, but I want something a little more sophisticated. Something a little louder when you get on the throttle, but not obnoxious (it is my daily). m20 under the hood btw. Anyone have any suggestions? I've been doing some research, listening to exhaust clips, reading manufacturers websites, etc. but haven't come to any conclusions... anyone have any experience with this? What muffler should I go with to achieve that sophisticated tone (eisenmann, remmus, billy boat, borla)? What setup should I run with? Should I replace the midpipes? Should I replace or bypass the cats? I'd like to get a muffler with the tips cocked out to the side like the one I have currently as well. Below are some pics of the muffler that I pulled off today. It came on the car when I bought it, says TESH and has a few different numbers on it. Any idea or suggestions? Thanks guys.

I think i'm going with the eisenmann muffler and connecting pipes. Not sure whether to go with the sport or race option for the muffler. Anyone sporting this setup?

Ugh, now I'm torn between eisenmann, b&b, supersprint, and borla... geez. Decisions decisions.

I'm not sure what muffler that is. Eisenmann is crazy expensive though, b&b is loud and I don't see a whole lot of superspring. I know Nando has a borla muffler on his ix. It sounds pretty good.

yea, i can't justify the price for the eisenmann right now. really wanted to keep it german, oh well. definately wanting to keep it two in/two out. will aftermarket midpipes see any performance gains?

No, there really are no gains to be had in the exhaust system except from a set of properly designed long tube headers. If you wanna stay german and can't justify the eisenmann, then supersprint or remus are about your only choices.
