Best bang for the buck exhaust system?

I just picked up a 1991 318i with the M42 in it....and the exhaust is in sad shape. I'm looking to replace everything from the header back. While I don't have to have the best, I would like to see a slight performance increase without spending too much money. I've seen a few setups on ebay for around $350 or so....but everything else I look at is pricey. What is the best system to go with for the least amount of money? If all else fails I can have my friend fab one up, but it would be easiest to just buy and install. Thanks in advance!

Everything I'm finding is quite expensive. I just need a stock replacement.....can it be done for $400 or less?

I believe bosal and ansa exhausts are somewhere in the 250 range.

How about a single in dual out cat connected to a 325I ebay muffler. Should cost you about 350 installed.

With the m42, i'd just go stock...I've got a brand new OEM style Ansa rear muffler section if your interested...
