    Headers with cutout, REMUS powersound

I'm putting on some headers soon and for no real logical reason I want to install a cutout as well so that I can run open headers if I want. Its just a childish desire really.

Seems like the electronic cutouts are way expensive and leak pretty good. Should I just go with a cable controlled cutout? Where should I run the cable to?

Also has anyone had any experience with REMUS powersound? Just looks to me like a little round disc inside the pipe that can be turned to block airflow to quieten the ride.

I want loud exhaust sometimes to play, but I'd normally like to keep the sound to a low growl so that I can actually hear my stereo and the person sitting next to me.

    In FTW!!

It's also a childish desire of mine and I'd love to see it done on an e30 :)

Basically just want to do it just for the laughs. Which is why I should probably just go cheap with the cable cutout. I've heard M20s with open headers and I know its not a very pleasing sound. Then again I'm the buffoon who installed an OOGA horn on my car.

I just get sick of these kids with their fart cans thinking it sounds so good and loud, giving me crap for having a quiet car. I'd like to be able to open up the headers and show them what loud and nasty is.

My friend has an electric cutout for his Mini S JCW, its honestly amazing, opens it up for track days, and closes it for street. Had it for a year still no leaks without problems. I remember it being around $250 installed. Not to bad, considering its both of best worlds. And he put the little switch under the dash out of site.

Would be nice but not sure if its worth the price seeing as how I'll seldom use it. You don't happen to know the name brand of that cutout do you?

I know exactly what you mean lol I have plans involving side exit exhaust and a hidden turn down in the rear :P

I can always add the cutout later though right? Just cut out a section of my pipe and put the cutout in. Or should I install the cutout when I install the headers and run the pipe?

So has anyone ever had any experience with the REMUS powersound? Looks just like a really cheap gimmick, wonder if it works. Looks really easy to DIY fab.
