    m42 exhaust replacement

My stock exhaust from the cat to the muffler is in pretty rough shape, sheared off completely, when i welded it back together it got ever so slightly crooked, so it doesent meet flush with the cat end any longer.

Wondering what kind of alternative I may have to the stock 318; m42 exhaust section. Looking for something I can bolt on with the existing hardware, curious to know what others have stuck on their 318s to replace the stock muffler?

The only thing im worried about is the cost of future replacement in case of failure. Also, getting it taken care of for under $300 would be ideal. I suppose finding a replacement exaust to bolt right on is a bit of a stretch...

You could go the dynomax route, or you could buy my brand new, never used, Ansa oem style rear muffler....(shameless plug)

        Pm me if your interested.

Yeah, this is the 3rd muffler for this car in 2 years, the stock mufflers are horrendous. I dont want to go the used route if I dont have to. Also dont want to blow a whole wad of cash on a brand new one.

damn, I wouldve given you mine for free; I scrapped the piece

I think you should salvage what you can from the old one and have a shop reweld it back together.

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. Only problem is its been arc welded together twice already- its solid right now, its just that the angle is off- so it wont properly mount to the cat without it leaking.

A shop could probabaly fix that and slap it on there without much issue Id suspect.

nope; and exhaust shop labor isnt exactly expensive typically either

Anyone have info on this exhaust? Is it a direct bolt-on as it looks to be?

How about this $100 setup? http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...%26+Drivetrain

And Alpinescott, I PMed you, I'm very interested.
