    My 318is exhaust (M42)

Im kinda pissed but not too much, i wanted exhaust but did not want to spend a lot off money because im just going for looks on my car, its just gonna be a nice daily driver.. Having said that i bought a dynomax super turbo muffler and had it put on my car,..........it sounds like ass i had a resonater put on the car and it sounds like something is loose, but its not. I dont really want it loud but i would like a little sound. By the way the car had no cat when i bought it, so with this situation ...am i just sol on geting it to sound smooth? Its got this like buzzing when i rev it not loud just annoying. I want it to have a tone with no rasp, am i gonna have to buckle down and just buy an expensive exhaust?

What did you expect when you intall a 40.00 muffler... AS I've said 1000x before if you can't afford a "good" aftermarket system stick with oem. Check eap4parts.com for low prices

      M
also put on a catalytic converter

Dynomax mufflers always give a wierd high pitched tone. Try swappign it out for a 40 series [2 chamber] Flowmaster, it will sound good as hell

The sound i was going for was the sound on here in the media. It says dynomax muffler but doesnt say with what else, i assumed with factory cat and everything else. I dont think that sounds too bad but i would like a little beter sound so. It looks like your saying to get a good clean sound im gonna have to pay 650 for some catback that does nuthing for me performance wise......What about ansa i just found it for like 389 is it any good?

Try drilling your intake box. Mine sounds nice.

Drilled intake with a Dynomax Super Turbo. I have the stock cat and stock resonator. I don't have any rasp.

sound clips will be all but useless fwiw

chipped m42s run very lean with an 'open' (ie drilled) intake.

my dynomax sounds fine, mildly louder than stock, no buzz or drone or rasp, just a decent tone (for a four pot)

                      who did the install?

I drilled the intake before I did the muffler.

What about drilling the intake box on a magnaflow? I have the same problem on my m42's exhaust, it has too much annoyance associated with the ride.
