    m42 sound advice

HOW IS THIS GOING TO SOUND?

So I recently bought a 318i and as you'll see, my exhaust is barely hanging on by nothing. It swings back and forth quite a bit like a saggy ballsack and im tired of it. Tried to fix it with some metal strapping but its beyond that.

And while i take it in to get re-mounted, I was thinking about just slapping this on. (Had it given to me for free for my beater e21 but sold that car)

It's basically a 1-in dual 3" out, glorified stainless steel fart can. It's not hollow but im still unsure what it'd sound like. Of course mounting it would mean carving the rear valence a little bit and im really bad with commitment, don't want it to sound like a honda with that awful drone.

Anybody have anything similar? Post up some M42 exhaust videos please!

Cliffs: exhaust needs to be remounted, have a free dual out fartcan, want to know what it would sound like.

    -TIA

I took a clip with my SuperSprint exhaust – but it was seriously boring and I deleted it.

Don’t think there’s much of a ‘performance sound’ to be routed from an m42 engine. If it was loud – then it’d be an annoying drone on the highway.

I’m weird in that I celebrate the 4 cylinder – along with the single-outlet valence – so I’ll submit one vote for not running the dual out.

Have you looked under the car? Maybe you just need new hanger clamps or doughnuts..

If you are talking about replacing a rusted out stock muffler with the fart can, it will likely sound better...but not for long.

Personally, I do not like single tip mufflers on an E30. I would do it in a heartbeat.

I'm installing a 12" Vibrant Resonator and a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, all with 2" SS piping.

I'll get a sound clip and post it some time next week. I'm hoping for a little more sound but no annoying drone.
