    cat back vs. muffler

Hey guys, I'm just contemplating what route to take to replace my eberspacher muffler (couple of rust holes under the straps).

Replacement eberspacher is $330 (on special at a local supplier, usually I have to source from the US to avoid getting raped!) and will last me about 5 years in my climate. I'm not really looking to spent more than that ^.

Would you guys bother with another one or would you just have a cheap muffler welded on? I'd like something quiet (don't want a "look at me" exhaust), and something that will work with the factory hangers/hanging points. I will be retaining my factory cat if it passes emissions that I have to do shortly.

Obviously I'd love a supersprint, but my car needs other stuff more.

I'd be tempted to fork over the $425 or whatever it is if I didn't keep hearing that most of them need additional fabrication to work.

The stainless steel catbacks on ebay are the same as the Ireland ones for about half the price. Great price for a replacement that will last practically forever. They are direct fit. They are fairly quiet too so I think it would fit the bill nicely for you.

Except the Ebay ones (not sure about IE) are made of "stainless" steel. If you damage the surface, they'll rust there.

Yeah I've read on here that there is a cheaper version of the IE cat back on ebay, haven't found it though....

            Unless this is it:
