    Muffler tip

Dear people that know more than me,

I recently got an exhaust from my friend who just redid his own. (my car is straight pipes so its loud as f**k). However in the high ranges it sounds quite ricey and i despise that sound. One conclusion i have come to is the giant 4 inch tip. So here is my question, Do the tips on mufflers change the sound of it? and if so what size tip would sound best to be welded on? 2? 2.5?

    Thanks!

A tip CAN actually change the sound but not much at all.

this is true. i have dual 2.5 tips. At idle its still kinda loud. When I cover one side the car isnt that loud. Also what might add is my tips are 6inch long.

I had a friend who put twin 2.5" tips on his stock exhaust system and it changed the sound hugely. Not exaggerating. When he would mash his foot on the throttle it would kinda sound like darth vader.
BTW this wasn't on an e30 but from what I've seen, Yes tips can change the sound not very often though.
