    Hole in my muffler

road was wet and when I got out of my car i heard a hissing noise. It was steam from hot air escaping through the hole through the splashed up water.

So there a small rust hole in the muffler, time to replace. But the question I have is would this hole cause any fuel efficiency or performance issues?

No. you will still get the same mpg/ efficiency. you could weld a patch or replace.

Well I'm glad my lack of knowledge with exhaust systems entertains you.

Don't weld on a patch. These things rust from the inside out. If a hole has finally poked through the muffler skin the inside is probably fucked. Mufflers are cheap. Have an exhaust shop throw in a new one for you.

Sent my local bimmer junkyard/part shop an email seeing what he has. Still haven't heard back though.

This is correct. Don't buy a Mishimoto.

You can find a good used catback on here pretty cheaply most of the time.

Another option is the cheap $200 stainless steel catback that's on eBay all of the time.
