I'm pondering the idea of building up a custom exhaust for my S52 swap. I've listened to as many sound clips as possible and I'm for sure going to put together a system that consists of 2 mufflers and maybe even some inexpensive cats. Probably do a Y pipe into a 2.5 inch pipe and/or throw an X pipe in there if it's deemed essential.
While I do like a few of the custom 24V exhausts that use magnaflow, dynomax, and vibrant mufflers, most of these combinations seem to be a little loud for my tastes. Essentially I'm looking for more of a deep and smooth sound as opposed to the more hollow glug glug sound like a V8 would make.....I've got a truck for that.
2 questions......
1. What would be a good mid muffler that would most effectively suppress loudness, drone and rasp? Maybe borla? dynomax?
2. What are some potentially higher end choices for the rear muffler that might provide a deep smooth tone that will be civil enough for DD duties but snarl at WOT?
I'm currently leaning towards a Y-pipe--> magnaflow cat--->dynomax muffler--->borla pro XS
I'd be willing to spend a little more on the rear muffler if it would actually make a difference in creating a deep, tuned exhaust note.
All suggestions appreciated!
