Price for exhaust install?

Looking to replace my cat, muffler, and run brand new piping all the way through my system. I'm going to call around to a few different shops and compare quotes, but I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of a solid price.

The cat and muffler would already be bought, the price would be work new 2.25" piping throughout the system and installation of the new cat and muffler as well.

So far I got a quote from one shop (good reputation) for 150$ for everything. I've never had exhaust work performed, but to me that doesn't sound too bad. Just looking for some opinions, thanks!

$150 seems pretty cheap to me, almost too cheap. For that price you are definitely going to get an aluminized MIG welded system, and hopefully they at least take it off the car to weld. To have an exhaust done right it's going to cost a little bit. If I were you, I would ask for them to explain in detail how they are going to build it. It doesn't have to be 304 stainless and TIG 'ed, but you definitely don't want the type of work were they start the car after they are done and MIG the "leaks". :down:

I have built a custom 2.25" exhaust, and it was a lot of work. Granted I TIG 'ed the whole thing, and I was an absolute perfectionist when it came to fit up and the way I routed it. I spent $350 on all the materials, and I would say $100 was (aluminized) tubing alone.

Thanks for the advice and good to know! If I had my own welder I would probably go at it myself.

You'll spend about $200-$300

I had a whole Exhaust fabricated for my M50 from the headers to the muffler for $300, I supplied the muffler. They did a pretty shotty job.

Had a different shop do a cat back for my 318is, payed $250, but the quality was much better.

Look at reviews , go on local car forums even if they don't pertain to E30s and see how their work was.
