I was running around a couple of muffler shops yesterday and i was talking to one of the mechanics there, he said that generally all magnaflow mufflers sound the same, it all has to do with your piping that can change the sound, is this true?

He had the magnaflow OE replacement cat with some ebay cat back and megan muffler. the car was droning REALLY bad and LOUD. So chopped off pretty much everything including the cat. Made a custom Y from 2 x 1.75 into 2.5 high flow cat with a magnaflow round muffler right after the cat and kept his megan muffler for cost saving. Everything was Tig weld, 304SS, mandrel bends, etc. All drones are gone and it's pretty deep now. but still bit loud since we went with high flow cat. Next thing to try is to fit a 18-24 inch magnaflow at the end.
