    Which Exhaust for m42?

Trying to decide on what exhaust to get for my m42. Was wondering what everyone has had best experience w/ and what sounds the best.

we have choices? I've never seen a system for the M42 other than the insanely priced supersprint exhaust from BMP or something.

Most guys go with just a 2.25" universal muffler. I got a Dynomax muffler, sounds pretty good. It's boomy inside at some rpms but doesn't sound fartcan-ish. My friend and I swapped cars and my exhaust sounded a lot better than I was expecting, it had a tiny bit of an wrx (boxer) sound as well.

pull the cat. thats about the only gain you'll see from an m42 system, and it wont be much.

doesn't sound like the dude wants some kind of power gains...just seems like he wants a more pleasant tone

can't go stock since the previous owner replaced it w/ some crappy one that's rusting and sounds like a ricer. Performance gains would b awesome, but not expected, I really want a good sound, that's the main part. I'm not wanting to spend money on the stock one, so y not spend some more money and get something that would sound better(more throaty and louder on WOT).

I have a custom cat back 2 1/2" through a magnaflow and it sounds pretty darn good to me. I took my cats out though and now i have a small exhaust leak that i have been to lazy to fix. Other than that it sounds good though. Dont go bigger than 2 1/2" cause it will be too fuckin loud, not to mention you will probably lose power.

Running the Stebro cat-back. Love the sound, fitment sucked though.

Never heard of stebro, where can I get it, and how much, just curious about the prices and such.

Full exhaust set ups/cat back systems are mucho dinero for the m42
You can go with a Dynomax or Magnaflow muffler welded on.
Cheaper than any set up out there.

I'll be going magnaflow soon. Heard it once, drove it a few times and fell in love with it!!

I have a supersprint magnum for an m42 318 if anyone is looking for one i can give them a good price because it has some blemishes like some scratches on the bottom on the chrome tip and a little ding on the top.

The Supersprint is excellent. Its very quiet though, but the hole in my cat makes some awesome noisez :(

If you can find a deal on a Supersprint (and there's one for sale right now on either this board or E30Tech), do it, you won't regret it.

I had the chance to buy a slightly used Supersprint one for $200, but didn't get my act together in time... :(
