    Magnaflow 14815 Muffler

Just a few questions about the Magnaflow 14815 Muffler.
I know the muffler fits the e30 but my question is how?

I took my car to an exhaust specialty shop because apparently the piping has separated from my muffler. They said I needed a new muffler and offered me an OEM muffler for 400-500$ but suggested I find a cheaper used or aftermarket one with dual inlets for a no hassle installation.

Upon looking at pictures of the 14815 Magnaflow Muffler it appears that the exhaust has a single inlet with dual exhaust tips. Before I pull the trigger and buy one for my e30 I was wondering how the muffler actually fits? I'm guessing there is some welding and fab work with a Y-pipe required because I have stock piping.. (dual pipes) Also I'm planning on retaining my stock cat for emission purposes and was wondering if that posed a threat to installing this Muffler. I'm also hoping any mediocre muffler/exhaust shop can figure it out

Any information helps! Thanks in advance!
