Midpipe for eta with future i swap in mind

My car is an 85 325e, and it has a pretty major hole in the midpipe not too far behind the manifolds, so I need to replace said pipe. Normally, I'd just get the Magnaflow 23553 cat from Summit and call it good, but the thing is, I plan on doing an "i" head swap down the road, headers, and possibly a turbo way down the road. So I'm trying to get something that will work for all of those applications, if such a thing exists.

I do have the complete catback system off an 87 325is that I can put on the car, so if I buy a midpipe made for an "i", I can just use that, right? It will bolt up to my factory manifolds or factory-style headers if I go that way?

What about straight pipes? I don't have to worry about emissions testing, so it would be an option for me, but frankly, after years of driving cars with no cats, I'd just as soon have one for the smell factor. And I'm well past wanting to drive a loud car, the quieter the better. And my understanding is that there's basically no power difference between a modern cat an an off-road pipe anyhow. Still, if it's much cheaper, I'll look into it. Who sells them, I haven't had much luck finding them?

tl, dr: I need a midpipe that will work with an eta engine and an "i" catback on an 85 eta car. Which ones will work and where can I get them cheap?

    TIA

if u are pretty sure you'll do the i head and turbo. just do a custom 3" and call it good. might screw with your back pressure/scavenging, but who cares. :) just my two pennies...
