    OEM exhaust manifold

I have 4 of the 10 manifold bolts rusted to hell stuck inside the head that I need to pull. It is a 88' super eta with everything being original it is beyond the point of combo wrenching it, or socketing it. Flanges are even worse and the whatever I put on either the flanges or the head studs and nuts do nothing but spin.
Any ideas would be appreciated, I bought about heating them with the torch but the expanding and contracting of the aluminum head has quite scared me. I also thought about the next smaller size wrench and hammering but i'm not trying to crack my head...itI'll attach photos later when I get home and grab the pics off my computer.

    Thanks

If the bolts aren't snapped off, spray some Kroil or PB Blaster on & wait a long time. When I replaced my manifold gaskets, I had lots of time to get the job done, so I let the PB Blaster sit for a whole week. I had no issues at all removing those exhaust nuts after that. If you can't wait a week, then heat is really your only option. I've never tried it on a cylinder head part, so I can't say if it's safe. Has anyone else tried it?

If you've broken any of the studs off, I'd recommend letting a well-equipped shop handle the extraction. Basically anything you think that might work as a do-it-yourself tool probably will just mess things up worse - ask me how I know!

Be sure to clean the studs real good, then use some Anti-Seize paste and new nuts when you reinstall the manifolds. GL

Thanks, I've got little hope for this manifold. I might try the flanges , let them soak and if they don't come off I'm having it towed to a shop to have them do it.
