ok so my 318ic (m42) is straight piped to muffler but is way too damn loud, what will quiet it down and not make it sound like a ricer, which will sound better? a glass pack or resonator?

What's the difference?
Put the biggest and most amount of mufflers you can fit and it shouldn't sound

I think it's just the name.
Straight through mufflers used to be just called glass-packs
and now people are calling them resonators.
