    Catalytic Converter on E30

    Hi,

I have an '86 BMW 325e , and I am wondering what the implications are of removing the catalytic converter? By this I mean, whether or not it will make the car louder? whether it'll have a negative affect on the engine or performance?

p.s. I'm not really worried about whether or not it's legal ahah

    Cheers

you would be better off to swap your entire exhaust to one from an I car, just removing the cat won't do that much

Yes the car will be louder. The cat works as a muffler as well.

There won't be any negative affect on performance at all.

Cut the cat out of it today and swapped it for a 2 inch straight pipe, wow, the car is so much more responsive and a hell of a lot louder !

          Was your cat clogged?

I should put a resonator muffler there, and its less weight as well.
