    2.25" or 2.5" ?

Exhaust is about to kick the bucket, so thinking about getting a new custom exhaust made for spring.
Thinking about having a y pipe before cat then strait pipe to new muffler.
Just wondering now if i should go 2.25" or 2.5"? Motor is stock with an intakeand chip, so not like im making any amount of power. So i was thinking 2.5" may be overkill and i dont want it to be outrageously loud. I just want a nice mellow tone. so what do you guys think? 2.25" enough or should i go 2.5"?

if it's a single exhaust, definitely go 2.5". Reap the full benefits of drastically reduced backpressure without going so big (3.0) that the velocity suffers. I'm gonna go single 2.5" soon myself.

Without either a cat or a resonator I'd say it will be pretty loud, yup :)

well i plan on having a cat or a resonator in there. I just dont want it to be to loud, i have a work term in edmonton this summer and 5 days driving across Canada in a "race car" lol, will not be fun i dont say.. It will be a single pipe, so i was kind aleaning towards 2.5" till my buddy threw a 2.25" on his jetta gli with headers, and i loved the sound. I know a 4 banger will be different, but it was so clean. So many a 2.5" on a I6 will achieve the same level of sound?
Ill have to ask the muffler shop when i go next week. Damn decisions, i always manage to make the bad call..
