Its not worth it unless you are swapping into an m3.
If you drop a m/s/50/2 into any other e30 you can use the pipes from an e36 exhaust. It would run about $150 on ebay for the midpipe and cats, but you can sell the cats as scrap for about $50 each.
The problem I have been told with using those pipes on a m3 is that it hits the sway bar. I have not tested it because I didnt have an e36 exhaust handy.
I had the guy that does all my machine work do them from scratch. I think I paid about ~$110 total for them. But there was a some money thrown down to have him cut and reweld it until I could get them positioned exactly right. Gets a bit hard when I test it on my car, go drive 5 miles to his shop, then try to get it welded right, bit flying blind.
I thought you did the cutting and rewelding, that's my problem too, I can't do that stuff.
I kind of do have an E30 m3 under the shell of my swap. The 318is is good and all, but it's all been removed, I've got a complete E30 m3 undercarriage from subframes to steering rack to sways. I start tackling the exhaust next week.
