    Stahl headers fitment for M20

    Good evening to all,

I was trying to install them on my E30 but it seems that they intrude with the sway bars. My E30 has H&R sports springs and aftermarket swaybars (22mm front.)

Anyone with Stahl headers had had the same issues? I noticed that exhaust´s side engine mount looks a bit tired so I need to know if just by getting new engine mounts the headers will fit?

Pictures are from another E30 I was test-fitting them before doing so on mine:

    Thanks to all,

Yes, they will interfere if the car is lowered. I have a set on my car. I was looking for a picture of the sway bar lowering blocks I got from Garagistic, but I can't find one. Check them out online, they worked great.

bmwstudent did you use the adjustable front sway bar links as well? Or those are a nice to but not must have?

We recommend that those modification be done hand in hand. You are changing the geometry of the swap bar with the spacer and even further if that car is lowered. To get the sway bar back into its effective range adjustable endlinks are the way to go.

                      Your very welcome!
^ The sway bar spacers worked just fine, the headers are already installed.

My only concern now is that the headers are very very low, much lower than the oil pan. I am scared and have nightmares with speed bumps. :( Is this common for other Stahl long tube owners?

I guess now is a good time to think about a daily driver, perhaps another E30, hehe.

On the other hand the sound is just addictive above 3000 rpms and the performance gain is noticeable. I intend to take it to the dyno to actually measure the gain.

                      Expect pics and vid soon...

Any long tube headers are going to compromise ground clearance. There's no way around that.

Bro had stahl long headers on his lowered car. Ended up crushing the tubes from all the speed bumps, potholes etc. So drive carefully, even more so depending on how low you are.

Racing Dynamics headers are a solution.

Exactly what I am scared about, thanks for the advice. I think I'll seriuosly consider a daily driver or revert to the stock headers and use the cool ones for track days only.

robrez those don't seem to be as long as the ones I have, not so sure if would have the same effect, although I must admit that look pretty cool. :p
