    Supersprints break in half? Repairable?

Well after buying this one from Mario(TIATO), I guess it had to die someday soon. It was used for quite some time.

Anyways, heres a picture from my phone. Is it repairable?

The place where the cat and the rear exhaust meet is in the very far left bottom corner. This cut is in the Supersprint itself...another picture for reference..

Where the smaller muffler and the pipe reach. Right there.

So is it repairable? Or what? Worth a try? Too expensive to fix?

Oh and seriously, at 6K, this car sounds like it has VTEC. I swear.

^^^ What he said. Should be able to just be welded back on if it wasn't rust that made it break.

Wow, never thought Id live to see the day that I would see a supersprint fail like that.

I bought the exhaust new from TC Kline Racing in 2003 and had it on my car for only about a year when I went for a custom magnaflow unit. The SS then sat in storage for another year before Dan bought it from me.

That center section is just a resonator and even before I went for the magnaflow, was considering having it cut out, but didnt as I did not want to compromise the resale or perceived functional value of the exhaust.

I would venture to guess that without the center section, like the SS unit designed for the M44 based Z3, the exhaust would simply be louder.

Reason why not to drive less than ten minutes in a car. Moisture on the inside of the pipes. Corossion from the inside and vibration probably cause the weld to fail.

Seems that these are fairly common failures.

Whats worse, I can't get this shop to help me out. They keep insisting I need a new exhaust, when I know that simply isn't needed.

I will update soon, hopefully I can get it fixed up. Mario, it ain't your fault! It is hella loud now though. You wouldn't happen to have some sort of warranty papers or anything...:D

                  Dan,

I can check at home, but cant make any promises ( BMP / Supersprint N.A. may also only waranty the exhaust to the original owner.) Also starting this PM I will be travelling for the next 2 weeks. If you can hold on that long, I can check if I still have it

The muffler shop wont help you out!! Man, any DECENT shop could hack the resonator and weld on a straight pipe or at least patch you up for that matter.

Sleeve it. Have a smaller tube into the muffler and tail pipe with a couple of tack welds as tempory fix. Or roll down to one of the NCC sponser shops and get it done. RRT is not that far from your house.

Let me know. A new Supersprint is better than a fixed one.

Anyways, I'm looking at other shops at the moment, so thanks ya'll.
