Exhaust for 2.8L stroker build advice wanted

I am in the process of accumulating parts to complete a 2.8L M20 build, turning my attention to the exhaust, I have read a number of threads, my specific questions are:

1. Which long tube header ? BTB UK exhaust is a great piece but they are not looking to manufacture any more, have watched german ebay for alpina/hartage and they rarely come up for sale, the Ireland header looks fine but they have a history of offering parts with issues, suggestions ?
2. I will be using a y pipe to merge the collectors, then installing a resonator and then finally a rear muffler. Is 2.5 inches preferred for the single pipe diameter ?

Looking for advice from folks that have done this and have dyno results to back up suggestions.

In to get the same answers... I'm considering the IE long tubes, myself. Can't hardly find any other options at the moment and I've only read good things about these so far.

Out of curiosity, are you planning on keeping the stock cat in place? Would be easy to replace with a high flow while working the exhaust, but I don't want to run into registration issues in NC. Safety inspection rules state that modifying existing emissions equipment should result in a failure to pass.

IE will be good for the price if you can get it. It's a copy of the bavauto design but with larger primaries.

Single 2.5" is the way to go in my opinion, that's what I did on my 2.8 with bavauto headers.

Most people just build their set-up and go to the dyno they don't do before and after, the only person on here who has played with different set-ups on the same dyno would be digger.

I resigned myself that the IE longtube header will the only viable option, I do not plan on installing a cat, this is just a fun weekend/track build, in NC car's older than 25 years just get a safety inspection, no emissions

I know they don't get emissions, but technically a car can fail a visual inspection of emissions equipment in a safety inspection.

My B35 uses a single 2 1/2" exhaust so its certainly enough for a 2.8.
