    Need Exhaust Setup Advice

    For the past 6 months I've been riding around with a catless (replaced with straight pipes) and an OEM muffler. It's a big improvement over the rusty hole riddin exhaust I had before but it sounds like I'm driving a old 6 cylinder truck and it's very loud at WOT.

    What setup would be best for a catless exhaust to make it sound good without sounding like Sandford & Son when I putt around & screaming loud at WOT.

    i had bavauto headers to track pipe into a brullen muffler, it was fun for a while and sounded like a race car, but then i realized i'm not driving a race car. Now with the m50 i'm going to run obd2 manifolds, e36 down pipes, y pipe into a 4in canister style muffler/resonator with 2.5in single pipe out to a 18x5x8 single 2.5 muffler. It should be farily quiet compared to what i had before.

      I would go with a y-pipe off the downpipes into 2.5 tubing. Have that go into a straight through glasspack where the cat would normally be. Then continue with the 2.5 tubing into any generic turbo muffler in the rear.

      That's essentially what I'm running right now and it sounds good with better flow than stock due to mandrel bends and a slightly increased cross section. The only variation I run off of what I just described is that my center "glass pack" is a dual in/out "euro resonator" from Racing Dynamics. I picked it up on ebay for $25. So, the y-pipe comes after the resonator instead of before it.

        What about just installing 2 glasspacks instead of going with the Y pipe?
