    open headers/manifolds

Alright so it's getting close to the time i need to drive down to the exhaust shop to get things finished up. So i searched around and see people are driving around with open headers, problem is i also hear driving around with open headers is bad. I'ts conflicting issues here, from what i hear it's bad because when the engine is shut off the cooler air rushes in and could warp the valves. Is this true or is it just a misconception?

Tony, a quick run to the exhaust shop is not likely to trash your exhaust valves, or trash the O2 sensor...but don't expect any torque either.

Get it there, get it done.

Saturday is right around the corner!

i drove mine around locally for a couple of days with open headers before i went to the exhaust shop it was loud as hell, could not hear myself think. i did not damage anything. car still runs fine. plus i also had a 62 impala,70 amx, 70 dart with open headers and never burnt a valve on them either.

i just ran my car this past friday with just my pipes and holy shit is it loud, but it didnt hurt anything on my car, only thing i noticed was i could "backfire" on demand when downshifting, i put it back on the next day and she drives and runs just fine, if u are just goin to a shop you should be alright...I've done this a few times without any aches aside from my ears

i wouldnt try to make it backfire when you dont have pipes on, flames shooting out in your engine compartment doesnt sound like a good idea to me
