Exhaust Hanger issues - help and photos needed

    Long story cut short...
I have an '88 320i convertible that needs a new rear exhaust.
Understand 320i and 325i run basically the same system.

Previous Owner(s) had a shop weld in an aftermarket rear muffler and did a hatchet job in the process.
No heat shield and believe the rear hangers have been butchered.
I'd like to convert it back to stock for the moment.

    Okayyyy...

I see - no hanger mount...

Does anyone have a good photo of what the rear hangers should be on the body?

I had this issue on my iX....the welded hanger on the body just came off one day, leaving my muffler hanging. I was able to source that part (yes you could buy it new from BMW) and had it welded on. I'll see if I can find the part number

so I can't seem to find the part number on realoem, but it looks sort of like this w/o the screw part. I would probably buy that part below, and grind off the plate that the screw is attached to. In essence, that is what the part looks like that sheared off the body of your car.

this was my thread when I had the same issue....

Thanks guys - love the E30 community.

I'll probably Frankenstein something up when the stock exhaust comes in.
Most likely use the two existing holes with nutserts and bolt a modified OE bracket on.
(not a fan of welding the rail)

Ended up drilling and putting in 2x nutserts to the existing holes and fabricating a bracket from and old hanger.
