    CA smog concerns

i want to do my exhaust, heres what i was thinking stock until the cat which i will swap for a hi flow unit then just straight pipes to like a magna flow muffler....or some other muffler im open to suggestions:D
u guys think my e30 will pass smog in this trim?
maybe i should just get like the ie cat back but i hear its not that loud, and i want a better performance gain...hence the high flow cat.
any input would kick ass! car is a jc chipped 89 325is

you can get the same IE catback off ebay for way cheaper. you'll see them on there and know what i'm talking about. yes it will pass smog. what else do you think is on a car besides a cat and mufflers. your comment of "running straight pipes" to the muffler doesnt make sense.

i guess a car could have resonators but they don't affect smog at all and neither does a muffler.

take the chip off for smog, you aren't going to see even 3hp from a high flow cat and you won't see more than 5hp from taking it off, so i'd try to pass smog with a stock cat and leave it at that. The e30 sounds nice as it is and I don't should have a super loud exhaust system. If you want louder put on that high flow cat and a magnaflow . run 2.5" single exhaust from the cat to the magnaflow. if you just want a nice, clean sound, thats lighter than stock as well go with the IE style catback.
