Sorry OP...let me see if I can find some pics of what you are looking for.

turbo_negro: That's a $600 car that was missing the muffler when I bought it. It needed exhaust, and that's my beater, so that setup cost me $15. Did the job of keeping the interior quiet for just under a year, then the resonator rusted off and I put the stock exhaust from my good e30 on it. I didn't have many clearance issues either, but that was stock height. Oh yeah, and the car has <300k on the odo.

You have to be careful with heat shielding in that area because of the fuel tank. Last thing you would want is to start boiling your gas while sitting in traffic. The link is to a 2002 but I think that's what you are going for correct? Usually to put the pipe through the rocker you'll need to fabricate a raised floor or at the very least cut out an arc and weld in some sheet metal.

When I did this on a non e30 I was told to expect VOLUME... and I laughed.... and then I had a headache every time I drove for more than 30 minutes because it was SO LOUD. It's gonna be hard to keep a full emissions system in that space too - which means you won't pass depending on your state, AND it means depending on your setup you should expect flames at your downshifts which looks cool till the guy next to you calls 911 from their cell phone and the Staties hunt you down 10 miles down the road going 30 over... ask me how I know!

BMW did things from the factory for a reason and it works. I'd suggest sticking with what works unless you have a track car IMO.

Good luck though if you choose to do it!

I wouldn't do it, carbon deposits all up your paint sucks.

Unless you're slapping a turbo on the engine, then just do a nice gradual bend and take a hole saw to your fender ;)

do it, just like that e46. If you are making a side exit exhaust that you probably dont care about a messy paint job on one section. I wanted to do this with a car and i might some time, but i might just stick to some sort of quad exhaust though.
