    Remanufactured CAT

Anyone know a source for remanufactured OEM catalytic converters? I want to keep factory noise levels and sound quality if possible without paying $1K for a new one. My other choice I guess would be DEC- any opinions on these?
    Thanks

I went thru the same thing b/4. I bought the car with a one year old DEC cat with 6000 miles on the car . And it failed smog. Talked to so many people. they all said similar thing that aftermarket cat don't last very long. They are more noisy too(some peolple might like the noise but I don't).

My reasearch is only OEM will last. some mentioned that just compare the size of it. OEM is so much bigger and there is a reason for it. I can't afford 1k too.

Ended up I located one good used one from a private party. Will do the the again Monday. Will see what happen. by the way the car is so much quieter.

Sorry don't really have an answer for you. I did read some will remanufacture them.

Buy two inline cats from your favorite well known aftermarket parts / shit dealer (American stuff is fine too), probably $75 to $100 each, and take all the stuff to a muffler shop. One hour and $150 later you will have twin cats that totally work and they will be plumbed into your existing system.

I made the prices up... lol...

But you can totally get a couple cheap cats and have them plumbed into your existing system. I don't know if it will only cost $150 for the work at the muffler shop, but it shouldn't be much more. I'd go that route before I'd go for a stock cat.

And LOL at remanufactured cats... Thats just silly.

Get a OEM one at www.bavauto.com, my brother just got one for $375 + $20 - $30 shipping.

They are warrantied on vehicles 94' and older for 5 years or 50,000 miles and 95' and up 8 years or 80,000 miles
