    Anyone running a X-pipe?

I came across a nice universal x-pipe by Megan Racing. MSRP is about $125. I have just heard about x-pipes being better setups to run as opposed to an H pipe. Anyone have any professional opinions/advice on running an x pipe on our bimmers?

Porsche 928s gain lots of power and torque from X Pipes. Even if you didn't see an increase in peak power or torque on an E30, I bet there are benefits for both curves overall. X Pipes are a great idea!

That's what I was thinking, if anything, it would quiet the exhaust down a bit. And from what I've heard it greatly reduces rasp.

Also, found the identical piece on eBay for $68 shipped.

          Here's mine:

I don't know if just the X-pipe helped out immensly or not, but the whole exhaust system produced a healthy gain (for what it was worth).

So you aren't running any sort of cats? What does the rest of your exhaust consist of? Any sound clips/video? I would really love to hear it if possible.

He has small HiFlows slightly down stream from there.

Turner shorty headers, custom x-pipe, a pair of euro e46 M3 race cats, out to a B&B TriFlow. I made, overall, 9rwhp, and 12lbft of torque. Not quite the most cost-effective power/dollar gain for my car, but the sound is nasty. I only have a clip of it before the competition headwork, so it's a little subdued there, but it was still loud enough then to set car alarms off just by driving by, or starting up next to an alarmed car. I've just got a y-pipe, but I've got a single 2.5in from where the stock cat was on back.

You should hear my exhaust now. It's muuuch louder.

                      pipes..

Correct me if Im wrong but I dont think 332i has an M20?... and in addition besides that being a pro level race quality set up...it was prolly several grand!!!!

I run a header into a y into a single 2.5 on back..thru a mf cat and borla can. There is alot of info on h vs y....on an m20 you wont gain much from h over y or vise versa.........

....why are you looking at x's.........I thought we run oe x's...I took mine off last week to install a Y!!!!!

isnt this our stock x pipe?

I tried my M30B35 with and without an x-pipe. The sound definitely improved, but I didn't feel any seat-of-the-pants improvement in power, FWIW...

This isn't for any performance gain. I just want to acheive the best sound that I can get. I hadn't realized we had an "X" in our stock systems, maybe someone can chime in with more info on that.

I have been looking at different setups, and really like the magnaflow systems that most of you guys are running. I felt it would be more legit if I kept mine a true dual system all the way to the back, but I could try the "Y" pipe like a lot of you are doing.

I was more curious to see if running a "Y", "X", or "H" changed the sound much.

I run 3" pipes from the headers back to the cats, from there it drops down to 2.5" all the way back. It turned out the best gains for my exhaust system.
