Catalytic Converter Question HELP

So I'm trying to get a new cat to pass smog, getting a whole new exhaust system.

My question is, will OBDII cat work on the OBDI cars? I called mangaflow, and then they say, NO!, then after getting all my info, he's like... yea sure. it'll work... so I'm mad sketched up. He said "it wont hurt your car or anything" ... But he was quite adamanent when he said "NO" so I'm so confused. Anyone know this? Will it throw any error codes? Part#94007

Yes it will work , but you just want to make sure sure that the cat is right for your engine size .

Thats what I thought. I figure I use the magnaflow one, thats on thier site thats say is for the engine size. IT should be fine, but everytime I ask man... people telling me crazy stuff. ::shaking head::, my bro also said "a cat is a cat" haha. Guess I'll just give it a go.
