So...my 91' 318is came with remote start and i didn't think that it worked (good because it is stick) but wed something in my pocket must have hit the button because my car ended up hitting the garage and backing up on two metal chairs. This got the rear above ground, and gave me a nice hole in the new stock muffler and bent the pipes:( I am getting the body work done now (tail light, side rear bumper trim, side reflector, probably new bumper, and some rust spots fixed, and my fenders rolled in prep for 002's) but need to decide which muffler I should get. I am cheap and was thinking like a Cherry Bomb Glasspack or something in the like. Yes I am taking off the remote start, and my e-brake doesnt work so i park in reverse. I just need to know the best performance and most cost effective muffler, I can get the pipes done free. I want it to sound good and be JUST quiet enough to keep the police away (driving on double court supervision) Thanks, Bill-B

If you weld on just a glasspack, it will be very, very loud, and likely sound horrible. Sure, the 318's single pipe center section probably does a lot to quiet crap down, but it will likely sound very harsh.
If I were you, I'd get a Dynomax or Walker Super Turbo with a large case, around 20" long. That will be cheap ($45-50 for the can), and it will provide reasonable sound levels.
