Mid-section muffler - replace for what reason?

    Hey guys,
i took a pick at my car's exhaust system and it looks like the mid section muffler (car has no Cat) is the original piece came from the factory back in the 90's.
now the system is good, no strange noises / gas leaks or whatever, but im still curious about it - this muff is almost 17 years and 200K km old.
will i gain anything out of replacing it?

    Ron.

    Hi Ron, welcome to r3vlimited!

If there are no leaks, there will be no performance gains from replacing the center section. With 200K on the clock (only 124k miles!), the center section should be in great shape, especially for a car dwlling in a temperate climate zone.

I am not certain what your center section is made of, but most US cars have a 409 stainless steel center section for good corrosion resistance.

Exhaust upgrades are usually done for more sound volume, if that is your thing.
