    very general exhaust question

Im running a NV m50, completely stock exhaust, from the manifold to the tail pipe, the actual muffler in the rear is too large to fit under the car comfortably.

    question 1:
is there any way to hack the muffler off the stock piping and weld up a smaller muffler?

    question 2:
what offset/diameter should I be looking for to fit the stock piping?

    question 3:
would an exhaust shop have this muffler on hand, and if not, what are some brands/part numbers that would be useful for what im talking about doing?

You can cut the stock muffler off. People do it all the time. I think that the pipes are 2 or 2.25 inches. A shop will have a muffler for you, it all depends on what look you want or what sound you want.

Look in the exhaust section on the boards to get an idea of what is the muffler for you.

any suggestions on aftermarket mufflers though...? I thought the pipes were like 1 7/8 inch diameter?

Stock e30 325i exhaust or stock e36 exhaust? I know stock e30 exhaust is 1 7/8" diameter, but if you get a dual 2" inlet, it should be easy enough to weld up.
