Need to make Custom Exhaust Quieter

Currently my e30 has an m30 with a 3" SS exaust from the manifolds with a Magnaflow Cat and Magnaflow Turbo XL muffler.

What should I do to make this setup quieter, or at least quiet enough so I can think or carry on a conversation with my passengers.

Resonator?
Regular Magnaflow not Turbo XL?
Dual Mufflers?

If you can still have a convo with a passenger, you're not light enough

throw a resonator as close to the motor as you can. Muffler placment has a HUGE effect on the sound level.

it should help, there are actually rasp eliminators now. They look like a glasspack.

Will a resonator actually make it quieter though? I was thinkin about either adding another muffler on the other side or getting a bigger, quieter magnaflow...along with a resonator.

Ok. What is the sound difference between placing it as far forward as possible rather than before the muffler?

Can you recommend a resonator for me?

any cheap glasspack should be fine. I am using a holley 2.5" glasspack and it was only about $20. There is some new resonator that eliminates rasp but I forget who makes it.

I'm thinkin about getting a regular magnaflow instead of the cheap turbo xl i have, or maybe even creating a dual exhaust which should make it sound alot smoother right?

a dual exhaust can help w/ rasp if it has an x in it. Although it costs a lot more to build one and it weighs a lot more. If I were you I would put a glasspack as close to the motor as I could and put a larger rear muffler on. It would still be loud but it shouldn't be too loud. You can always add in another small muffler or glasspack if its still too loud...
