Any opinions on a race type exhaust?

I am looking at replacing my heavy ass twin exhaust. I have a bunch of 2.25" mandrel bends. Has anyone gone from dual to single?

I do not care about fitting in with the super sprint/remus/etc. crowd, or how it will sound. Mainly looking to shed a few lbs. and improve scavenging.
