I've been meaning to post this info with pics and sound clips for more than a month now but I'm lazy and busy... Anyway, I needed to replace my exhaust and after looking at numerous do-it-myself options I decided to get a quote from one of the many Lou's Custom Locations in the greater Boston area, as one of my E28 friends has had really good luck with them. That's when I realized they recently opened a location in Manchester, NH which was really convenient because that is where I work.
So apologies for not having any evidence of their work in the form of pics or sound, but they took really good care of me over there even allowing me to try out a couple of different muffler options while the car was on the lift. I ended up getting a down-pipe back, single stainless steel 2.5" exhaust, through a stainless high-flow cat, and stainless MagnaFlow turbo-style muffler with a 5 year warranty for $550. It is loud but sounds fantastic...ok, it is probably too loud and I will end up changing to a baffled muffler at some point, but since I got excited while we were trying different mufflers I can only blame myself :)
The quality seems really good and I like the fact that they do all of their own mandrel bending and welded lap joints on site which allowed them to keep the exhaust really tight to the body.
Just wanted to share a good experience in the event any of your southern NH guys are ever looking for a reputable exhaust shop.
