My '85 325e has a straight pipe after the cat. It's loud. I like it :)

well, I have a cat, but besides that, no other restrictions. I honestly think it doesn't sound ricey at all, and not raspy either, and barely drones enough to be considered droney, especially at freeway speeds.

I will record a video for you guys soon enough, but for now, here is a first and second gear jaunt for you.

I never had an issue with it in the year or so I had it like that. It acutally ended up rusting off just before the resonator, so then I routed it out the back. I don't own the car anymore either.

Mine was stock 2". 2.5 would be overkill on a stock eta.

i had straight pipes ( no cat) on my 318i 2.0l and have the same pipes on my 3.5l (post swap same car) with the small 6 it had a unique sound....not like a ricer but not throaty like an american v8 somewhere inbetween with the stock pipe diameter. just try it for a while....loud as hell, the neighbors won't like it but it's sure fun making people wonder what you have under the hood

Anyways, 2" is good size for 325, so no idea putting more than single 1,5" to an ETA..

I've 2x2" in my 335 and they're a bit too big for it (room for more power though)
