    Stock rubber hangers/manifold nuts

I hate them so much. Can't figure out how to get the inner one, closest to the spare tire. The one on the outside closest to the DS wheel was tough enough, but I can't seem to get the other one. Special tools/tricks?

Also, I can't get the nuts tight on the manifold to downpipe studs - maybe 4 out of 6. Can't get a socket on it, and a wrench is too long to get any turns in. I really don't want to drop the whole exhaust and take the manifolds, attach the manifolds to the downpipes, then mount the manifolds back to the head. Again - any tricks/advice?

    Thanks!

Hangers - best bet is to put the donut on the hanger on the car before you try putting the muffler on. THen, put the hanger piece on top half of the strap on the donut so that you have it, and only it, hanging from the donut. Do the same for the other strap while you are at it.

Have a friend or a jack hold the muffler in place while you attach the lower halves of the straps.

As for those manifold to downpipe nuts - its been a while, but I think I used a stubby wrench.

    Good luck!

I considered doing that - separating the straps from the muffler, hanging them, then securing the muffler - sounds like I should try it :) Now to find a stubby 15mm...

If I remember correctly I used a shallow socket with a swivel and extensions. Give that a try.
