    Does anyone know of a place in the new england area who will buy cats for a decent price or should I try a metal yard??

        Sell it on ebay. Junkyards won't give you half of what it's worth. I sold the cat from my 1988 325is for $285+$25 shipping on ebay. But be sure to put it in the right section (scrap metal, not automotive) and be sure not to mention what year or model it is off of.
