Me and my buddies are considering building a custom remote mount low boost turbo setup on the recently swapped car. I've got a garrett turbo off an 85 chrysler new yorker laying around, its pretty small but i thought it might work for remote mount (STS style) and low boost (8 lbs). Im going for low budget, and since you don't need a manifold or intercooler for this style setup i thought i would try it just for shits and giggles. Im gonna do legit engine management and everything (either miller WAR chip or a custom megasquirt setup) that i would use later on when i do an actual front mount turbo setup. Convince my dumb ass that i really shouldn't do this before i break something

you won't be able to spool an hx35 at the very end of your exhaust.

I agree with Danny. Just do it, long ass intake tube, low boost, MS, bigger injectors. GO.

Kinda what i was thinkin. thats for later when i have moar monies for a front mount. Would i be able to run a WAR chip in place of MS or is it not nearly as tuneable like some people say?

War chip will work fine until you get into boost, has no provision for above atmospheric pressure, I believe.

don't rear-mount. i can't imagine a less efficient way to spend the money getting boosted.

sell what you've got on ebay and do it the right way once you can afford it.

Since i dont want to start new threads for questions, would i need to drop the compression with a mls head gasket to run 8 pounds on all stock components?

should be fine with stock compression. it really comes down to the tune.
